Yabon takes action against
food waste

Yabon is committed to the fight
against food waste.

Our long shelf-life desserts save energy in storage (refrigerators) and prevent wastage caused by short product lifespans.

As a food manufacturer with our workshop located in the heart of Normandy at Verneuil sur Avre, we have been working for many years with charitable associations, enabling us to promote our products to the most disadvantaged and avoid wastage of consumable foodstuffs.

A partnership with Too Good To Go is therefore a natural step, given our shared values and our desire to be a responsible player in the food industry of the future.

In the home, misinterpretation and misunderstanding of use-by dates are responsible for 20% of food waste. This food waste can be avoided by understanding the two types of date and the behavior to adopt to avoid throwing it away.

Understanding best-before dates

In France, half the population doesn't know the difference between the two best-before dates: DDM and DLC.

When you have a product in front of you, look for the indication on the packaging to understand what date it is (it's not always next to the date).

If it says "best before", it's a Best Before Date, meaning the product can still be consumed after the date, like all our Yabon products!

How can I check that my product is still good after the sell-by date?

When a product's best-before date has passed, don't just throw it away - use your common sense:

- Store your product according to the instructions on the packaging to preserve all its qualities
- Use your senses:

Observe the product:

to determine if the packaging is intact, if the product has not changed color, if there is no mildew

Feel the product:

to determine if the smell has not changed

Taste the product :

a little, so that your palate can determine whether it's sour, fizzy or has an unusual taste.

The best-before pact

In January 2020, Too Good To Go initiated a Pact on Consumption Dates, which now brings together more than fifty players in the food sector, including Yabon since 2021.

The aim? Reduce food waste caused by dates, and rally our forces around this coalition. We are signatories to this pact and are committed to reducing food waste.
